We had a lot of fun putting together our Murder Mystery Party (see below link). As we thought about a typical crime scene, we realized the importance of gathering all the evidence…especially any fingerprints left at the scene of the crime. That may help you identify if the person was present when the crime occurred. That’s when my sister, Cindy came up with our Thumbprint Cookies.
Makes 30 cookies
2/3 cup packed light brown sugar
1 cup butter or margarine, softened (not melted)
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 egg yolk
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
Raspberry jam, seedless
Preheat oven to 350º F. Mix brown sugar, butter, vanilla and egg yolk in medium bowl. Stir in flour and salt until dough holds together. Refrigerate for 1 hour. Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Place about 1 inch apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Press thumb deeply in center of each cookie. Bake about 12-14 minutes or until light brown. Immediately remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely, about 30 minutes. Fill thumbprints with jam.
