Apple Salad

 

As the saying goes “an apple a day keeps the doctor away.”  Apples are so beneficial to healthy living.  You just might find yourself grabbing one after you read the article.  So here’s your chance to make our beautiful and delicious apple salad.

 

 

Apple Salad

Makes 2 servings

 

Ingredients

2 red delicious apples

1 bag of baby spinach or spring mix lettuce

½ cup of Gorgonzola cheese

¼ cup chopped walnuts

 

Directions

Cut apples horizontally in two using a sawing motion.  On the bottom portion of the apple, place a few greens, crumbled cheese, and walnuts.  Place the middle portion of the apple on top and repeat with the next layer until the apple is complete.

Balsamic Glaze

Ingredients

1 cup balsamic vinegar

¼ cup brown sugar

 

Directions

Mix balsamic vinegar and brown sugar in a saucepan.  Heat until sugar is dissolved.  Simmer on low until glaze thickens.  Cool before serving.

 

When ready to serve, drizzle balsamic glaze onto the place.  Serve with champagne dressing, which may be purchased in the grocery store.
